Light rail can have a heavy impact. As construction crews tear up University Avenue in order to build a train line between Minneapolis and Saint Paul, everyone in the neighborhood is affected. Gordon Parks High School students are documenting the impact of the Central Corridor Light Rail Transit project. Through photography and interviews with local business owners, students learn journalism skills and become the historians of their neighborhood.
This multi-year project is happening in partnership with the Minnesota Historical Society and the University of Minnesota School of Journalism.
